Giedo van der Garde

Giedo van der Garde was destined to be a racing driver. Like a lot of young boys, he loved karting and at the tender age of just 11 he was already the Dutch Champion, a success only topped by being crowned the World Champion six years later. In 2008 he won in the World Series Championship, winning the title with five race victories and eight podiums

In 2007 and 2008 he gained first experiences of Formula 1 by testing for Force India and Renault. Van der Garde entered the GP2 Series in 2009, winning three races in his debut season. He continued in GP2, scoring nine more podiums. In 2012 van der Garde joined the Caterham Group as a race driver for the Caterham Racing GP2 team and reserve driver for the Caterham F1 Team.
He became the first driver to graduate from Caterham’s GP2 team into a full-time Formula 1 race seat. In 2013 van der Garde made his debut in Formula One.

He is now test and reserve driver for the Sauber F1 team. He will be driving and developing the car during some Friday sessions and in several tests in the 2014 season. Combining ambition and a winner's focus with natural charm and approachability, Giedo was an obvious choice for us to sponsor. Next to having many links with Formula One and in particulair with Sauber F1, we also see in Giedo a brand ambassador and part of our McGregor family.
